FAQ’s
What’s the first step?
Get your paperwork in order. To complete the Notice of Intended marriage form you will need to provide evidence of your place and date of birth. If you were born in Australia, that’s your birth certificate. If born overseas, a passport from your country of birth or your birth certificate. If you have been married before, you will need to prove how that marriage ended – either a divorce certificate or a death certificate for your former spouse.
How far ahead should I book?
Once you have started making your arrangements, you should book a celebrant – it can be disappointing to find that they are already booked. The Notice of Intended Marriage is valid one month and a day after you lodge it with your celebrant and expires after eighteen months. Contact me now to see if I am available.
What does it cost to get married?
There are no fixed prices here, each celebrant will set their own fees – but in the scheme of things a celebrant’s fee is one of the smaller items you will need to budget for. However, choosing the perfect celebrant for you, is definitely one “wedding” decision that shouldn’t be based on price. You should feel comfortable with your celebrant, confident that he or she can communicate, listen and then deliver your perfect ceremony. Remember that most of the work a celebrant does is before the ceremony, the attendance on the day is generally the “tip of the iceberg”. Contact me
to discuss your requirements and budget.
We’re getting married in the country, do you travel?
I’m based in Northcote – inner city Melbourne, but most of my work takes me away from home. I’m happy to help – but once outside the metropolitan area, you’ll understand that I will need to build travel costs in to my fee. Contact me for a quote.
We only want a short, simple ceremony – just us, our witnesses and you. Where can the ceremony take place and when should it be?
Just because you want a short, simple ceremony, it is still your wedding day! How will you celebrate this wonderful moment – a lovely meal, a glass of champagne?
What will you do after the ceremony? Answering these questions sometimes helps you decide where and when to have your ceremony. A ceremony in your home can be very special, or there are beautiful locations throughout Melbourne that might suit.
Depending on your requirements, your ceremony could be conducted in my office, or my garden. Contact me and we can discuss your plans.
